'Nobody's Gonna Want to Pay': Lack of Insurance Doubles the Punishment for Los Angeles Fire Victims
The extraordinary fires that have been devouring certain neighborhoods of Los Angeles for the past few days are expected to be the most expensive in the city's history. Around 15,000 buildings and homes have already gone up in smoke, including many multi-million dollar luxury residences located in some of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the City of Angels, Pacific Palisades and Malibu, where Hollywood stars live. The New York Times even puts the figure at 17,000 structures ravaged, half of them by the Pacific Palisades fire alone. Initial estimates currently suggest $150 billion in damage.
