Durga, the divine mother in Hinduism, is depicted as a woman with a lion holding various weapons in its many arms. She represents creative power, renewal, perseverance, and struggle. She possesses both the power of creation and the power of destruction. Set within an ordered, feminine, almost lunar universe, she harmoniously envelops the goddess, who sits magnificently enthroned at the center of the composition, surrounded by numerous lotus blossoms, a symbol of resilience, a plant that manages to survive even in adversity. These elements create a reminder that nothing is lost in life and that even in difficult times, the capacity for rebirth and renewal must exist.

The obverse features the year 2023, 10,000 CFA francs, and the coat of arms of the Republic of Cameroon. Oriental motifs also blend seamlessly with the reverse.
