Easter Joy - The Pysanka Egg - 1oz Oval Silver Coin 10 HRYVEN Ukraine 2025

Easter egg making is an important element of national identity and preservation of traditions. In 2024, Easter eggs as a Ukrainian tradition and decorative art were included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, there is a stylized tree of life, which is a symbol of the universe, depicted in the form of an oak - an image of strength, protection, longevity, male courage and fidelity. The tree is conventionally divided into three tiers (worlds), each of which contains 12 Easter eggs, reflecting a 12-year cycle, with symbols inherent in each world. In the upper part of the tree, reflecting the heavenly world, the beregyna is depicted - a female goddess, the guardian of all things, above which is a stylized flower as a symbol of the human soul; the sun is the source of life and the heavenly fire revered since ancient times; the star (rose) is a symbol of the sun, life, development and prosperity; the bee is a sign of fertility and hard work; the bird is the personification of eternity, the immortal soul and the spirits of ancestors. The trunk of the tree is an image of the earthly world, in which the images of: a deer is placed - an animal that brings light, associated with agriculture and knowledge; a horse is a symbol of strength, movement and masculine nature; a ram is the personification of creative energy. The lower part of the tree, the roots, represents the underworld and water, the following symbols are reproduced here: sigma (S), depicting an underground serpent as the guardian of the home; an amulet that combines the signs of a cross, rhombus, svarga, ram's horns and dots; fish is a symbol of fertility, life and Christianity; waves that personify the continuous movement of water, life and the world as a whole. Around the tree is a frame of triangles, symbolizing the trinity of the universe: heaven, earth and water, and also reflecting the concept of the divine trinity, harmony and completeness through an equilateral triangle. The upper part of the coin contains the inscription UKRAINE, below – the denomination 10 (left) and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia (right), the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the year of minting of the coin 2025, the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine, as well as the designation of the metal and its fineness – Ag 999, the mass in purity – 31.1.

The reverse of the coin depicts a traditional pysanka of the Odessa region, known as “Sorokoput” or “Cossack Levadas”. The pysanka is decorated with complex ornaments, each of which has a deep meaning. Svarga is one of the oldest symbols of the sun, happiness, goodness, wishes for well-being and protection from disaster. The straight and oblique crosses represent a three-dimensional universe that unites different levels of being. The ladders symbolize spiritual growth, the path to God, and the desire for a higher life. The sun on the pysanka represents the source of life – the heavenly fire, which has always been revered as a symbol of warmth and light. Two crosses placed on a white background, overlapping each other at an angle, create the effect of constant movement and energy. This impression is enhanced by the central circle, which symbolizes space and infinity. The combination of green and black colors, outlined by a yellow outline, gives the ornament a special tension and strength that inspires and energizes.
