The Giant Deer, known as the Irish Elk, is another extinct representative of prehistoric megafauna featured by Germania Mint. This prehistoric species (Megaloceros giganteus) inhabited vast areas of Europe and Asia, with its enormous antlers being its most distinctive feature. This time, the story of this remarkable animal is presented on the gold coin 2026 Republic of Liberia Megafauna: Giant Deer 100 Dollars 1/10 oz Gold BU.
The 2026 Republic of Liberia Megafauna: Giant Deer 100 Dollars 1/10 oz Gold BU coin will be released with a strictly limited mintage of 2,500 pieces, each presented in an exclusive Safepack.
The obverse
The obverse depicts the deer in its natural prehistoric surroundings. The animal’s silhouette is presented in a way that emphasizes its massive build, while the widely spread antlers form the most prominent detail of the composition. The presence of forest and vegetation creates an atmosphere reminiscent of the world as it existed thousands of years ago and reinforces the prehistoric character of the issue.
The reverse
The reverse follows the distinctive design language of the Megafauna series. The central element is the skull of the Giant Deer, complete with its impressive antlers. Beside it is a hoofprint, while tracks belonging to other animals enrich the composition. These footprints serve as a subtle preview of the upcoming species featured in the collection, making each issue part of a larger story.
Packaging
Each coin is presented in an exclusive Safepack, designed to securely protect the coin while providing an elegant and modern presentation.
The Safepack complements the unique character of this gold edition of the Megafauna series, creating an attractive collector’s presentation. The strictly limited mintage of only 2,500 pieces further emphasizes its exclusive nature.
