The coin was struck to commemorate that Canada was a land of hope and prosperity especially for Chinese immigrants to Canada. Like all SML's these coin is a one ounce coin minted to the standard of 99.99% purity!! The reverse of the SML coin shows a brilliant hologram of the maple leaf as mentioned. The obverse of this coin carries the brilliant relief image of the Queen (by Dora de Pedery-Hunt) against a satin background. This coin come encapsulated and then set in a beautiful red leather oval clam case. On the lid of the case are embossed a red maple leaf as well as some Chinese characters which speak of the hope for a new life in Canada. There is also a uniquely numbered certificate of authenticity. The red case is then housed inside a very attractive silver cardboard box with a maple leaf embossed on it as well as the same Chinese characters but now in red. There were less than 30,000 of these minted.
