Starry Night is one of van Gogh’s most famous pieces and it was created during a time when the artist was in an asylum seeking care for his mental health. The beauty of the brush strokes and the interplay of colors in this piece are famous and for good reason. The sky is given all the attention in the original piece and the colors are moving and inspirational as the heavenly bodies float over the city below. Adding the relief of the Paris skyline into this piece is the perfect treatment of this famous piece as the Eiffel Tower stands in for the city foreground in the original piece. The Eiffel Tower stands for so many things in France today and it was just as visionary in its day as the Starry Night was. The pairing of these two iconic works of art makes for a cohesive commentary on the beauty of design and forms that can be portrayed through the message of art. The obverse features a retro french typography for the legal tender, the Coat of Arms du Tchad.
 
On a canvas of 9 x 7cm, a new minting technique called “Bi-Metal Max” was applied to give this piece its remarkable weight while keeping its proportions true to the actual painting. This is made possible by combining 14 oz of copper as a base with a top painting layer of 1 oz of 999 pure Silver, resulting in a high relief. This is a limited edition of 688 pieces only.
