The next chapter in a journey through the nine lands of the Amber Route
 
This chapter of the Amber Route takes us to the lands of present-day Czechia and into the world of the Germanic Marcomanni, who inhabited the region in the first centuries AD. A Marcomannic warrior dominates the composition, while a piece of natural amber at its heart holds a replica of a Roman coin of Aelius. The scene is enriched with a Roman fibula and a stylised map featuring the Flumen Marus, today’s Morava River, a Marcomannic oppidum and the inscription MARCOMANNI. Below, a caravan of travellers makes its way through the mountain passes of the famous Moravian Gate.
