In tribute to Malta’s endangered native species, Germania Mint presents a new collector’s edition featuring the Maltese Ox (Gendus). Once widely used as a working animal, this historic breed of cattle has nearly disappeared, with only a few individuals remaining, none fully purebred.
 
The coin, designed by Natalia Danysz, preserves the distinctive shape and Maltese symbols of previous issues, while giving them a fresh and artistic reinterpretation. On the obverse, the ox’s head is surrounded by flowing lines representing the wind – creating a sense of motion and lightness, while emphasizing the animal’s strength and majesty.
