The obverse of the coin depicts a family of lions in their natural habitat, surrounded by trees and plants. The family is composed by a lion, a lioness and two adorable lion cubs. The design also includes the Coat of Arms of Benin and the inscriptions: "RÉPUBLIQUE DU BÉNIN" – the country of issue and "20000 FRANCS CFA" – the face value.
