The obverse
The obverse of the coin depicts the Cave Lion in full readiness to strike, set against a backdrop of mountains and ancient forests.
 
The reverse
The reverse presents an original Germania Mint design, featuring the lion’s skull and paw print. Surrounding them are the tracks of other species that will appear in future releases of the Megafauna series. The composition is completed by the effigy of the Republic of Liberia and the Germania Mint mintmark.
