The obverse
The obverse features the Cave Lion in its natural habitat – surrounded by mountains and primeval forests. Tensed muscles, bared fangs, and razor-sharp claws reveal a predator in full readiness – captured in the moment just before a mighty leap that determines survival.
 
The reverse
The reverse presents a new Germania Mint design – a detailed depiction of the Cave Lion’s skull and paw print, encircled by the tracks of other species that will appear in future issues of the Megafauna series. The composition is completed by the effigy of the Republic of Liberia and the distinctive Germania Mint mintmark.
