A tzompantli or skull rack was a type of wooden rack or palisade documented in several Mesoamerican civilizations, including the Aztecs, which was used for the public display of human skulls, typically those of war captives or other sacrificial victims. In the artwork you can see displayed in the center a skull wearing the iconic Aztec feathered helmet. The coin boasts a stunning colorization work decorated with 24k Gold Gilding.
